The government has called upon UK newspapers to attend a roundtable on how to tackle fake news.
Earlier this week, BBC News revealed that it has formed a taskforce to combat online untruths, after the EU referendum and US election underlined the effects on unchallenged falsehoods online.

Ad of the Day: McDonald's 'The Lift' shows sharing's caring, except with chicken selects
McDonald's is showing the darker behaviours its chicken selects can inspire in a cutesy ad about two women trapped in a lift.
With little else to do, the pair became friends, sharing stories, clothes and doing what it takes to pass the time - until a McDonald's meal is delivered through a gap in the lift doors.

What was once a relationship fraught with unfamiliarity between global businesses and startups is increasingly collaborative, with both parties far more self-aware of what they need to do to make it work.
Proof of this shift was evident at CES, where executives from Amazon, Ford, Motorola and Universal Music were among a flurry at the conference who were just as interested in meeting entrepreneurs as they were their peers at the big agencies and technology firms.
