  • Butte County Schools Closed Until After Thanksgiving Due To Camp Fire

    PARADISE (CBS13) – With the Camp Fire still raging, Butte County school officials have decided to close all public schools until at least after the Thanksgiving break.
    Tim Taylor, the Butte County Superintendent of Schools, said in a release on Friday that all the area’s schools – including charter schools – will be closed through Nov. 23.

    PARADISE (CBS13/AP) – A California National Guard official says 100 military police are headed to Northern California to help evacuate people from a wildfire.
    Maj. Gen. David Baldwin says other military personnel are studying satellite imagery to assess the scope of the damage and map the fire.

    FAIRFIELD (CBS13) – Authorities say three people were found dead in a car that crashed off Interstate 80 near Fairfield early Friday morning.
    The scene was along the eastbound side of the freeway, near the Highway 12 connector.
    California Highway Patrol says the crash is believed to have happened early in the morning but wasn’t reported until about 5:30 a.m. A blue Hyundai sedan was heading on eastbound I-80 when, for an unknown reason, it crashed into the Highway 12 overcrossing.

    A fire official says a Northern California wildfire has put 15,000 homes and 2,000 commercial buildings at “imminent danger of burning.”

    PARADISE (CBS13) — High winds and dry conditions turned an early morning fire into an inferno that devastated the Northern California town of Paradise on Thursday.
