  LOS ANGELES (AP) — A California assemblyman has been ordered to keep a safe distance from his estranged wife amid allegations that he physically abused her during their brief marriage.
  The Los Angeles Times reported Friday that a judge is requiring Democratic Assemblyman Roger Hernandez of West Covina to stay away from Susan Rubio.
  Rubio alleges in a declaration for the restraining order that Hernandez, first elected in 2010, has choked and hit her since they were married in 2013.

  After five weeks camping out, the student protesters say they achieved their goal of bringing local and national attention to what they say is Katehi’s unethical behavior.

• California Unemployment Rate Decreases To 5.4 Percent

  SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — California’s unemployment rate dipped to 5.4 percent in March.
  The state Employment Development Department released the monthly jobs figures on Friday.
  The rate was down from 5.5 percent in February and from 6.6 percent in March 2015.
  The state says nonfarm payroll jobs increased by 4,200 last month to a total of more than 16.3 million.

  A big rig on its side is blocking lanes of both north and southbound Interstate 880 in Hayward.

  The Stockton Fire Department confirming a Molotov cocktail was thrown at a home along the 2000 block of El Dorado Street early Friday morning.
  A neighbor says that police were at the home due to a disturbance earlier in the morning.
