  PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Pittsburgh Public Schools says high school winter sports are set to begin later this month.
  In a release on Monday, PPS said winter sports will begin on Jan. 25, two days before the return of in-person instruction for students in the district. The release says Superintendent Anthony Hamlet announced the return date of Jan. 25 after a recommendation from the District 8 Athletic Committee to postpone the start of winter sports until at least Feb. 1.

  PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — The Allegheny County Health Department is reporting 887 new Coronavirus cases and three additional deaths over the last 48 hours.
  Of the newly reported cases, 765 are confirmed from 2,864 PCR tests. There are 122 probable cases.
  The Health Department says new cases range in age from 2 months to 99 years with 43 being the median age. The dates of positive tests range from Dec. 28 to Jan. 10.

  CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — A West Virginia woman has been sentenced to 30 to 60 years in prison for her role in the sexual abuse of an infant.
  Roseanna Elaine Thompson of Charleston, was sentenced Friday in Kanawha County Circuit Court.

• Big Beaver Falls Area School District To Extend Remote Learning Through Mid-January

  BEAVER FALLS (KDKA) — Students in the Big Beaver Falls Area School District will continue to learn remotely through at least January 19.
  In a letter sent to parents and families, Superintendent Dr. Donna Nugent addressed the increased positivity rate and spread of COVID-19 in Beaver County.
