    PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — You’ve heard of the Heimlich maneuver, but could you do it if someone needed it?
    Thankfully, one local man figured out how to do it when a patron was choking at the restaurant where he worked. And believe it or not, KDKA’s Kristine Sorensen has done it four times on her husband, former KDKA-TV reporter Marty Griffin.
    But sadly, more than 5,000 people die every year from choking if there’s no one there to help quickly.

    WESTMORELAND COUNTY, Pa. (KDKA) — The 23 days of October in Westmoreland County showed some positive numbers and others where there remains much concern.
    As the coronavirus pandemic roared back to life this month, the numbers rocketed up. But there’s some good news when it comes to testing. According to the state Department of Health, the daily rate of positive tests is down about 8.75 percent.

    Pennsylvania Man Sentenced To At Least 7 Years For Throwing Acid-Like Substance On 2 People
    ALLENTOWN, Pa. (AP) – A judge on Thursday sentenced a Pennsylvania man to 7 to 15 years in state prison for tossing an acid-like substance on two people during an argument at his home in 2019.
    Arnold Bell, 52, blamed the attack on one of the victims and he criticized the legal system as he was sentenced before a judge in Lehigh County.

    1 More Resident Dies Following Coronavirus Outbreak At Westmoreland Manor

    WESTMORELAND COUNTY (KDKA) — One more resident at Westmoreland Manor has died following a coronavirus outbreak.
    In an update Thursday from the Westmoreland County Board of Commissioners, officials say three residents are in the hospital and no additional residents or staff tested positive.
    Members of the National Guard were called in at the end of September to help with testing staff and residents.
