    Former New York Congressman Michael Grimm has been sentenced to 8 months in prison for tax evasion. The Staten Island Republican pleaded guilty late last year to aiding in the filing of a false tax return.    Federal prosecutors in Brooklyn had asked the judge to give Grimm at least 2 years behind bars at the sentencing on Friday. His lawyers had sought probation.

  • Teen arrested in rape of elderly woman

    An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the sexual assault of an 82-year-old woman in Queens. Asa Robert hid in the woman's Brooklyn apartment while she was outside sweeping the street, according to police. Once she returned Robert demanded money from the woman at knife point.  He then stayed at the apartment for several hours before raping her and running off, added police.

    The ride-booking service Uber's app has a new feature -- and it's very critical of Mayor Bill de Blasio.  Riders can now choose "de Blasio's Uber." It purports to show would what happen if a plan to cap the number of Uber cars on New York's streets is adopted.  David Plouffe from Uber said Thursday that the cap could cause "wait times in Manhattan to skyrocket."
