  Louis Dalton Tandy Sr., age 83, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center. He was born on May 5, 1943, the son of Gavin McQueen Tandy and Mary Elizabeth Gatewood Tandy.He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Mr. Tandy retired from the Kentucky Department of Parks as the director of accounting in 2000.   Sen. Robert Stivers’ opinion piece on Aug. 12 advocating for the construction of AI data centers in Kentucky once again demonstrates how out of touch Republicans are with the concerns of Kentuckians, and the American people writ large.

  On Tuesday, the Frankfort community celebrated and paid respects to Franklin County firefighter Kolby Tucker.The celebration included a large procession of fire and EMS vehicles from various counties across Kentucky, as small groups of citizens and police personnel also paid their respects.

  A Frankfort man has been charged with two counts of assault following a domestic disturbance Sunday morning.

  A fire at Frankfort High School over the weekend has caused the school to close for the week.
  Frankfort Independent Schools Superintendent Dr. Sheri Satterly said in a post on ParentSquare.com that the fire occurred around 5:15 a.m. Sunday. The fire was contained to one classroom, but damage from the sprinkler system and the fire department was extensive.
