  • Letter: ‘Don’t give up’

    Dear editor,
As midterm elections are upon us, I like the “don’t give up” approach.
To explain, there are those who are discouraged at this time, but then there are those who are keeping on. My husband and I are now part-time farmers in Tennessee. There has been very little rain along with a lot of heat; in other words, very challenging times. Farmers can be good examples in the “keeping on” approach. In a short rhyme, I share some of our firsthand experiences:

Guest columnist: A scream of consciousness
Although our politics today are “positively” worse than in 1965, there’s no need (yet) to “just come out once and scream it,” and I certainly wouldn’t want to “see anyone paralyzed”; so, this is just going to be more like a “stream” of consciousness free association rant. Someone looking at an abstract painting by Picasso said to him, “It doesn’t look like a fish.” Picasso replied, “It’s not a fish, it’s a picture of a fish.” Maybe this rant is somewhat like a p
