The fiscal court discussed the possibility of lowering the real property tax rate at its Wednesday meeting with County Treasurer Amy Quatman, who addressed her perspective.
“My recommendation to the court is to adopt the rate of 0.179, this will generate $7.3 million in revenue,” Quatman said to the court. “So for taxpayers, this will mean the tax will be $179 for every $100,000 of property value.” So the rate would be going from 0.183 to 0.179.”
