  • Parkinson’s disease support group to meet Aug. 20

    The Parkinson’s disease support group will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, at The Cross Center at Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church, 480 Duckers Road. The center is located at the back of the church.
    The group will gather for snacks at 6 p.m. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will discuss the types of exercises available for those with Parkinson’s disease.

    Carter takes home two first place awards at Kentucky Florist Association’s national design contest
    Diane Carter, of Benjamin’s Flowers and Gifts, placed first in two categories and second overall at the Kentucky Florist Association’s annual convention July 30-Aug 2 at Belterra Casino.
    The national design contest was titled “The Heart of America Designer of the Year.” Seven designers from four states competed in four categories in the contest. Carter is a former Kentucky Floral Designer of the Year and has been at Benjamin’s Flowers and Gifts for three years.

    ‘It’s where we want to be’: South Frankfort residents explain why flood didn’t have them running for the hills
    More than 15 months after the streets closest to the Kentucky River in South Frankfort filled with water during a near-record-breaking flood in April 2025, one might think that most of those residents whose homes flooded would have went running for the hills. But as of early August, there are less than 10 homes for sale in that area, with only three of them being on Paul Sawyier Drive, the street closest to the river.

    The first restaurant in The Paddocks of Frankfort opened this week.
    Chipotle Mexican Grill, located at 100 DG Parsons Drive, began serving customers on Monday.
    A fast-casual restaurant chain known for its customizable menu featuring burritos, bowls, quesadillas, tacos, and salads, the new location features the restaurant’s signature Chipotlane, a drive-thru pickup lane that allows guests to pick up digital orders without leaving their vehicles.
