• Sony disc plant in Terre Haute laying off 375 workers

    TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) — A western Indiana disc plant has told the state it’s laying off 375 workers there beginning in March.
    Sony DADC US Inc. notified the Indiana Department of Workforce Development on Wednesday it will outsource the music and video disc manufacturing currently performed at its Terre Haute plant.
    The Terre Haute Tribune-Star reports the first layoffs are to start on March 23 and continue through August.
    Sony says the layoffs will be permanent.

    FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The Fort Wayne Fire Department (FWFD) says no one was injured after lightning struck a roof in northeast Fort Wayne.
    According to a release from FWFD, crews arrived to a home in 2900 block of Glencairn Drive to smoke coming from the roof above the garage.
    The crew then assessed the area and confirmed that everyone had evacuated the home, according to a the release.
