    I-70 In Mesa County Covered In Meat After Semi Crash
    CLIFTON, Colo. (CBS4) – A bizarre accident on Interstate 70 in Mesa County left the road covered in meat.
    The tractor-trailer accident occurred Sunday on I-70 east Of Grand Junction near the Palisade exit. The truck was carrying a load of pork when it rolled near Clifton.
    Both lanes of I-70 were closed down for a few hours for cleanup. The driver is not hurt.
    Investigators are looking into what caused the crash.

    DENVER (CBS4) – A group of Colorado World War II veterans is back home after a special trip to Washington, D.C.
    A large crowd gathered at Denver International Airport Saturday night to welcome the veterans home.

    Several hundred vets were flown to the nation’s capital courtesy of Rocky Mountain Honor Flight. The vets received a two-day tour of the city and were given special access to several memorial sites.

    A weeping willow planted in memory of Sean and Staci Griffin was cut down more than a week ago. The Griffins owned Boulder Stove and Flooring. They both were shot and killed by a disgruntled employee in 2010.

    U.S. 6 Closed In Golden For Possible Road Rage Incident Investigation
    GOLDEN, Colo. (CBS4) – A stretch of eastbound U.S. 6 in Golden had to be closed Sunday afternoon due to the investigation of a possible road rage incident.
    A woman called 911 to report a road rage incident at approximately 2 p.m. According to police, an off-duty officer tried to intervene and fired a shot before an on-duty officer arrived. Nobody was hit.

    A motorcyclist suffered minor injuries after debris hit the driver’s hand.

    DENVER (The Sports Xchange) – The Denver Nuggets waived guard Nick Johnson, center Oleksiy Pecherov and guard/forward Devin Sweetney, reducing their roster to 15 players, the team announced on Saturday.
    Johnson, 6-3, 202, appeared in six games (one start) for Denver in the preseason, averaging 2.2 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 17.7 minutes per game.
    Pecherov, 7-0, 232, appeared one preseason game, scoring six points and grabbing one rebound in 7.4 minutes.

    DENVER (CBS4) – In an effort to discourage drunk driving, the Denver Police, Public Works, and Excise & Licenses departments have teamed up to create temporary taxicab stands in LoDo on weekends.
    One stand was installed at 20th and Blake streets on Friday and Saturday “to give patrons better access to safe rides home and to provide an alternative to hailing cabs from the street.” It will be there for at least the next year.

    Gas Prices Fall To Less Than $2 A Gallon In Denver Metro Area
    DENVER (CBS4)– Retail gasoline prices across the Denver metro area dropped this week to settle at an average of less than $2 per gallon.
    Colorado is one of 49 states seeing a drop in prices. It was as low as $1.92 at the Safeway at 26th and Federal but the staff put it up to $2.02 just moments later.
    Nationwide prices at the gas pump fell 7 cents this week, to reach an average $2.22 per gallon.
    Association experts say ample domestic supplies have kept down prices at the pump.
