• Holland school district says threats aren’t credible

    HOLLAND, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Holland Central School District says threats shared on social media were determined to be not credible.
    Parents received a robo-call around 7:15 a.m.
    Holland Junior/Senior High School administrators and the Erie County Sheriff’s Office investigated the threats, and authorities are monitoring the situation as the school day continues.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Erie County Sheriff’s Office says a couple of deputies witnessed a robbery and caught the suspect.
    On Wednesday afternoon, deputies were walking on Main St., between county building posts, when they say they saw a man grab a victim’s arm and forcibly take something from her hand.

    DUNKIRK, N.Y. (WIVB) — Residents in the City of Dunkirk are urged to boil and conserve their water until further notice.
    During contractor activity at the high lift pump station, officials say someone hit a supply line, causing a large leak in the system.
    The incident happened between the city’s water treatment plant and a supply tower. Because of the leak, contaminants could have entered the water system.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — For the 27th year in a row, the Labrador Retriever was chosen as America’s favorite dog.
    German Shepherds came in second, and the Golden Retriever came in third.
    The French Bulldog came in fourth, and the American Kennel Club says it’s because the “Frenchie” is adaptable to city life.
    The breed’s cousin, the English Bulldog, rounded out the top five.

    Union members and the company have a Saturday night deadline to agree on a new labor deal.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — It’s not often that an armed robbery inside a taxi cab is caught on camera, but earlier this month cameras inside a Liberty Cab captured the scary moments when a man pulled out a gun on a female driver.

    ERIE COUNTY, N.Y. (WIVB) – Erie County Clerk Mickey Kearns wants to make it easier for people to opt out of having their information sold by the Department of Motor Vehicles.
    State law allows the DMV sell information like your name and address and even license number to companies contracted by the state.

  • Darien Lake to expand operating season to six months

    DARIEN CENTER, N.Y. (WIVB) – Darien Lake will extend its operating season to six months starting this year, the theme park announced Wednesday.
    The park will be open from May 5 to the end of its new fall event, the Jack-O-Lantern Jamboree on Oct. 29.

    NEW YORK — Federal agents are hunting a prisoner who slipped through their fingers in New York Tuesday. Mohamadou Mbacke, 31, was last seen at terminal 4 at John F. Kennedy International Airport.   • 1 dead, 4 injured in San Francisco hit-and-run after dispute, police say

    SAN FRANCISCO — Five people have been struck by a car in San Francisco in a hit-and-run incident, police say. One victim has since died, according to a hospital spokesman. CBS San Francisco reports that police spokeswoman Giselle Linnane said the incident happened at around 10:24 a.m. in the city’s Dogpatch neighborhood.
    The driver of a vehicle got into a physical altercation with five people and struck all five with his car, Linnane said.

    PHOENIX (AP) — Authorities say a hot air balloon carrying 13 people crashed and caught fire Wednesday morning in the desert outside Phoenix, igniting a small brush fire but causing no injuries.

    PAVILION, N.Y. (WIVB)- Noblehurst Farms is a larger dairy farm in Upstate New York.
    The 1,500 milking cows there churn out nearly 14,000 gallons of milk daily.
    The farm’s business manager Thomas Matthews says despite being a larger operation, Noblehurst isn’t immune to some of the challenges facing the American dairy industry.
