• New York State Police will host open house on Saturday

    CLARENCE, N.Y. (WIVB) – New York State Police will hold an open house Saturday at the new Clarence station in honor of NYSP’s 100-year Centennial.
    The open house will be held 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the station, 196 Trooper Kevin P. Dobson Way, in Clarence.
    The open house will include activities and demonstrations and is a “fun family event”.
    K-9 demonstrations and aviation and special operations response team shows will start at 11:30 a.m.

    NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB)- The Harbor and Gray Seals at the Acquarium of Niagara welcomed a new roommate Friday evening.
    The 6-month-old male Harbor Seal pup travelled to Niagara Falls from the Marine Mammal Stranding Center in New Jersey; a boat injury caused him to need an amputation of one of his back flippers.

  • Elma woman charged with staying in park after hours, attacking sheriff’s deputies

    ELMA, N.Y. (WIVB) – An Elma woman is facing several charges after refusing to leave a park Thursday night.
    According to Erie County Sheriff’s reports, a deputy encountered Laura Rusinski, 37, of Elma, playing on a swing set in Elma Meadows County Park around 9:15 p.m. Thursday. The deputy requested that she leave and continued his patrol.

    NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB)- 20-year-old Camilya Joseph is charged with two felony counts of Aggravated Animal Abuse after police say they discovered two deceased dogs in a vacant home.
    Police say the dogs belonged to Joseph, who is the daughter of the property owner.
    Officers were responding to a trespassing call at the home on 20th street near Walnut Avenue, when they made the gruesome discovery in an upstairs bedroom.

  • Hurricane Maria Relief Fund set up in Buffalo, donations, money being collected

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – The City of Buffalo, along with Western New York Latino Leaders, has established a “Puerto Rico Hurricane Maria Relief Fund” to help support residents of Puerto Rico following the devastating hurricane.

    Death Wish Coffee Co. says it’s recalling 11-ounce Nitro Cold Brew cans after determining that its manufacturing process could lead to growth of bacteria producing botulin toxin.

    CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Williamsville man was accused of drunk driving after a previous conviction.
    Joseph Lops, 49, was stopped on Route 33 in Cheektowaga after New York State Police say he was speeding.
    According to Troopers, Lops’ blood-alcohol content was .21 percent, which is more than two times the legal limit.

  • Fire damages 3 buildings, hospitalizes 7 people

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Crews battled a two-alarm fire on the 100 block of Massachusetts Ave. Friday morning.
    Three buildings were damaged as a result of the fire, which began around 6:45 a.m.
    It was later brought under control, but it caused nearly $500,000 in damage.
    Seven people, including two adults and five children, were hospitalized.

    CITY OF TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) – A Tonawanda man has been charged with two residential burglaries in the City of Tonawanda.
