    (CNN) – Texas officials say they’ve gotten hundreds of complaints about price gouging and scams in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.
    One convenience store in Houston reportedly charged $20 for a gallon of gas, $8.50 for a bottle of water and $99 for a case of water, according to the Texas Attorney General’s office.

    ELMA, N.Y. (WIVB) — An early morning traffic stop in Elma led to the arrest of a driver and his passenger.
    A deputy with the Erie County Sheriff’s office stopped a vehicle on Route 400 around 12:20 a.m. Thursday.
    The driver was identified as 34-year-old Fillmore resident Russell Appell. He has nine separate, active license suspensions.
    The deputy investigated Appell and his passenger, 22-year-old Heather Kleinsmith, of East Aurora.

    CHICAGO (WIVB) — The Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago is getting a very big, new addition.
    Meet the world’s largest known dinosaur.
    It’s 122 feet long and weighs in at 70 tons.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A ramp closure is scheduled for NY State Route 198 starting Sept. 6.
    Beginning at 7 a.m. Spet. 6, the NY Route 198 westbound ramp to Elmwood Avenue northbound will be closed to all traffic. A detour will be posted.
    The closure is expected to last about four weeks as dredging and sediment removal is performed on Scajaquada Creek.

  • Nation’s largest oil refinery forced to shut down as Harvey floods Port Arthur

    PORT ARTHUR, TEXAS (CNN) – The largest oil refinery in the country is shutting down as Hurricane Harvey causes more catastrophic flooding, and more have followed suit.
    Early Wednesday, Motiva said it started closing its Port Arthur refinery “in response to increasing local flood conditions.” The plant won’t open until flood waters recede.

  • 5-year-old struck on Pooley Place in Buffalo

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A five-year-old child was struck in the 100 block of Pooley Place in the City of Buffalo around 4:45 p.m. Wednesday.
    Buffalo Police say the vehicle was traveling east on Pooley Place when it struck the child, who was near the edge of the street.
    The female child was transported to Women and Children’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
    Police issued a summons to the 29-year-old female driver for leaving the scene of an injury accident.
