• Arrest made in June hit and run accident in Grand Island

    GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. (WIVB) – New York State Police have made an arrest in a June hit and run accident in Grand Island that left a 53-year-old Grand Island woman seriously injured.
    Edward J. Kuebler III, 27, of Tonawanda, has been charged with leaving the scene of a serious personal injury accident, an E felony.
    On June 13, the Ram pick-up operated by Kuebler was traveling on East River Road when it struck Dana Papaj, who was walking her dog.

  • Bodies of 6 family members recovered, bringing Harvey death toll to at least 21

    (AP) – The overall death toll from Harvey is at least 21.
    Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez says the bodies of six members of a Houston family have been recovered from a van that was swept off a Houston bridge and into a storm-ravaged bayou.
    Gonzales says relatives returned to the scene Wednesday to look for signs of the van and notified authorities after spotting part of it poking above the water and seeing two bodies in the front seat.

    NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Beach Boys are coming to the Riviera Theatre this November.
    The band will perform at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 19.

    ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man is accused of breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s home and pointing a gun at her boyfriend.
    Orchard Park police say Michael O’Neill broke into the apartment on Tuesday night around 7:30 p.m.
    According to the woman, O’Neill broke her front door in the process.
    After this, police say he left in his vehicle.

    A truck driver found a four-month-old kitten hiding in his engine compartment.

    HOUSTON (AP) — The National Hurricane Center says Harvey is back on land after coming ashore early Wednesday just west of Cameron, Louisiana. The tropical storm is expected to weaken and continue to the north.

    LEWISTON, N.Y. (WIVB) – Whirlpool Jet Boat Tours recently surpassed their own record for oldest passenger ever on board with a 98-year-old rider.
    Mildred Cummigs, 98, of Lewiston, enjoyed a “Wet Jet Tour” from the Lewiston location on Aug. 11. Before Cummings’ trip, the previous age for the oldest passenger partaking in a Whirlpool jet boat tour was 96, in 2007.
