  • Police: 2 woman dressed as nuns try to rob Pennsylvania bank

    TANNERSVILLE, Pa. (AP) — Police say two women dressed as nuns attempted to rob a bank in Pennsylvania’s Poconos.
    Authorities say the women walked into Citizens Bank near Tannersville on Monday and one brandished a handgun, demanding money from a teller. But they left without taking anything.
    Each woman was wearing a black nun’s habit and veil. One woman also was wearing sunglasses.
    The FBI is investigating and posted bank surveillance photos on Twitter.

    HOUSTON (AP modified) — The National Hurricane Center is reporting that some parts of the Houston area have received 50” of rain.
    They are forecasting a relatively small amount of rain Tuesday in the Houston area, only 2 to 3 inches (5 to 7.5 centimeters) — perhaps a little less in Houston proper.

  • Volkswagen recalls 281K cars because engines can stall

    (WROC-TV) – Volkswagen is recalling almost 281,000 CC and Passat sedans and wagons in the U.S. because the fuel pumps can fail and cause the cars to suddenly stall.
    The recall covers the CC from the 2009 through 2016 model years, as well as the Passat sedan and wagon from 2006 through 2010. All have four-cylinder gasoline engines.

  • BPD officer charged after suspect was injured in March

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Buffalo Police Department charged an officer with misdemeanor assault and official misconduct after they said the officer injured a suspect in custody.
    Buffalo Police Officer Joseph Hassett was arrested Tuesday and accused of assaulting a suspect on March 18 at the city jail. Hassett is also accused of lying about the incident in a subsequent written statement to authorities.

  • Vehicle hits woman, bus shelter at Niagara and Hudson

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Buffalo police say a woman was hit by a vehicle on Monday night.
    According to police, the vehicle was going south on Niagara St. around 9:15 p.m. when it struck the woman near Hudson St.
    After that, the vehicle hit a bus shelter.
    The driver, who was identified as a 34-year-old Buffalo woman, and the pedestrian, were taken to ECMC and later released.
    The driver was charged with driving without a license and running a red light.
