• Bills player Adolphus Washington found not guilty on concealed weapons charges

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A Buffalo Bills player charged with improperly carrying a concealed firearm has been found not guilty.
    Adolphus Washington, 24, was arrested July 9 for allegedly pulling out a firearm at a water park in Sharonville, Ohio.
    On Monday, Ohio judge Jackie Ginocchio found Washington not guilty of the misdemeanor charge during a non-jury trial.
    Video from the arrest shows that it happened as officers were clearing out a crowd at the water park parking lot.

    Cookie was born on the Seneca Indian Reservation, and her previous owner could no longer care for her.

  • Sheriff: Maple Leafs scouting director drives golf cart while drunk at Darien Lake

    DARIEN, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Toronto Maple Leafs’ director of eastern scouting was arrested at Darien Lake this past weekend.
    On Saturday night, the Genesee County Sheriff’s office says Lindsay Hofford, 53, drove a golf cart without the owner’s permission and struck another vehicle before leaving the scene.
    This was the night of the Green Day concert.
    Authorities say Hofford was drunk at the time, and that he also unsafely moved from a lane while driving.

    FREDONIA, N.Y. (WIVB) — Approval for a roundabout in Fredonia has been rescinded by the state’s Department of Transportation (DOT).
    Plans were made to put a roundabout at the intersection of routes 60 and 20. It would feature long medians, preventing left turns from the highways, including turns to the McDonald’s on E. Main St.

  • Dunkirk man killed in train incident

    DUNKIRK, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Dunkirk resident was killed in an incident involving a train on Friday.
    Dunkirk police and fire crews responded to the CSX rail line above the S. Roberts Rd. overpass shortly before 8:30 p.m. that day.
    That’s where the incident occurred. Police did not give specifics as to what happened.
    Authorities are still investigating the incident.

  • NYS Fair breaks all-time single day attendance record

    SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — The NYS Fair broke its all-time single day attendance record Sunday, with 123,206 people making their way to the fairgrounds.
    That is just 336 more than the previous record of 122,870 set back in 2014.
    Fair officials say days with more than 100,000 visits are highly unusual on the first weekend of the fair.
    Since World War II, only six first fair weekends have hit six figures.

  • Average gas prices across state, country go up while Buffalo’s remain the same

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Gas prices in Buffalo remained the same as last week, despite the national and state averages going up.
    AAA says the average price of gas in the Queen City is $2.43.
    The state average is up once cent from last week — $2.48. The average price across the country is $2.37, which is four cents higher than last week.
    One year ago, the state average was $2.33 and the national average was $2.21.
    AAA says Tropical Storm Harvey in Texas has affected prices.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — We’re no stranger to snow here in western New York, and apparently, neither is Mars.
    NASA just released photos of melting snow and ice on the red planet.
    The photos were taken three months ago once the sun started melting the leftover snow.
    You can see the end results, which were created by snow and red sand dunes, in the video above.
