• Netherlands concert cancelled after warning from Spain

    THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) – Rotterdam police say a concert in the Dutch port city by American rock group Allah-Las has been cancelled because of a “terror threat.”
    Rotterdam police did not specify the nature of the threat in a statement Wednesday night.

  • Elderly couple killed in Orleans County accident

    BARRE, N.Y. (WIVB) — An elderly couple was killed in an Orleans County vehicle accident on Wednesday.
    The couple was driving north on Eagle Harbor Rd. in Barre when they failed to stop, and turned in the direction of a westbound tractor-trailer.
    The truck pushed the vehicle into a tree, according to the Orleans County Sheriff’s office.
    The woman died at the scene, and the man died after being flown to Strong Memorial Hospital.
    The couple has not been identified.

    ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC-TV) — Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren has been hospitalized due to a significant allergic reaction, according to the City of Rochester Communications Director James Smith.

  • Another discharge occurs in Niagara River

    NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) — Another sewer discharge has taken place in the Niagara River.
    An estimated 1.1 gallons of sewage was discharged by the Niagara Falls Wastewater Treatment Plant.
    It is not clear whether or not public areas were affected by the discharge, which happened during a thunderstorm Tuesday night around 7 p.m.
    It lasted three hours.
    A reason for the occurrence was not listed. As of 11 a.m. Wednesday, no steps have been taken to contain the discharge.

    Daniel Butler, 28, was charged with Third-Degree Robbery and jailed on $25,000 bail.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The man who ran against Carl Paladino for a seat on the Buffalo School Board will now try to replace him.
    Austin Harig will run for the now-vacant seat representing Buffalo’s Park District. He lost to Paladino by only about a hundred votes last year.
    Paladino was removed from the school board last week for sharing private school board information.
    Last summer, Harig was charged with Assault and Harassment, but those charges were dropped earlier this year.

    A dad in the United Kingdom created the Reply ASAP app, which freezes your child’s phone until they respond to a text.
    It will create an alarm that won’t stop ringing, even if the phone is on silent.
    If the child deletes the app, parents will be notified immediately.

    Niagara Falls, N.Y. (WIVB) — Two kittens are recovering after being rescued from a dumpster in Niagara Falls.
    The kittens were found in a dumpster behind the Holiday Inn on Niagara Falls Boulevard and were turned over to the SPCA of Niagara where they are in good condition.
    A spokesperson for the SPCA says the pair developed conjunctivitis and had to have their eyes removed due to the length of untreated infection.
