    MACHIAS, N.Y. (WIVB) – Two18-year-old men are facing multiple charges following a multi-agency investigation into a series of burglaries and criminal mischief incidents that occurred over a seven-day period in Wyoming and Cattaraugus counties.
    Dyllian S. Taggart, 18, of Delevan, has been charged with multiple counts of third degree burglary, endangering the welfare of a child, criminal trespass, and criminal mischief by New York State Police.

  • Erie County Legislature okays “Made in America” law

    ERIE COUNTY, N.Y. (WIVB) – Erie County legislators approved a new law Friday that would require all  county purchases for Erie County over $10,000 to be for goods manufactured or produced in the United States.
    The legislature moved their support of the “Made in America Law”,  penned by Legislator Ted Morton, Friday during a special session.

  • Buffalo man convicted of predatory sexual assault against three-year-old

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A 36-year-old Buffalo man has been convicted of predatory sexual assault and predatory sexual assault against a trial by a jury in a trial in State Supreme Court.
    Erik Meir was convicted of orally sodomizing a three-year-old. The act happened in Jan. 2016.
    The jury reached their decision after deliberating for less than an hour following a week-long trial.
    Meir faces 25 years to life when he’s sentenced Oct. 11.
     
  • Golden retriever digs up heroin in Oregon backyard

    MCMINNVILLE, Ore. (AP) — An Oregon family’s golden retriever has been honored by a sheriff for digging up $85,000 worth of black tar heroin in a family’s backyard.
    KATU-TV reported (http://bit.ly/2xb1MmW ) Friday that the owners of the 18-month-old dog named Kenyon thought he had dug up a time capsule in their backyard, so they decided to film themselves opening it.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A 39-year-old Uber driver was assaulted early Friday morning near the 200 block of Allen Street.
    The male driver said he picked up a fare and at some point the suspect struck him in the back of the head and made off with an undisclosed amount of money, police said.
    The suspect then fled on foot.
    There may have been two other suspects, according to the driver.

    DETROIT (AP) — R&B singer Trey Songz has reached a deal with prosecutors to reduce a felony assault charge stemming from a concert in Detroit.
    The 32-year-old artist pleaded guilty Friday to two counts of disturbing the peace in a Wayne County court. He will serve 18 months of probation.

    NEW YORK (WIVB) – The jackpot for Saturday’s Powerball drawing is now $535 million- the fifth largest jackpot in the game’s history.
    The $25 million increase is due to strong sales across all 47 participating lottery jurisdictions, the New York State Lottery said in a press release Friday.

    CAMBRILS, Spain — Police in Spain say they have shot and killed five people south of Barcelona while carrying out an operation in response to a terrorist attack on Thursday.
