    EAST OTTO, N.Y. (WIVB)  – An East Otto man has pleaded not guilty in a fatal accident that occurred in East Otto in January.
    Andrew J. Armbruster, 30, is charged with second degree manslaughter, second degree vehicular manslaughter, driving while ability impaired by drugs, fourth degree criminal mischief, and failure to stop at a stop sign.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Erie County Court building on Delaware Ave. was evacuated Tuesday when smoke was seen on the seventh floor.
    The smoke came from elevator repair work.

  • Local hospital holding contest for new lullaby

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Women & Children’s Hospital is looking to update one of its traditions.
    Whenever a baby is born at the hospital, Johannes Brahm’s “Lullaby” is played.

  • 19-year-old sentenced for killing daughter’s father

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A 19-year-old will spend ten years in prison for fatally stabbing her daughter’s father.
    Prosecutors say that back in November, Kearra Bailey stabbed Shaundez Davis, 19, in the back after an argument in her home on Broadway.
    Bailey, who was 18 at the time of the crime, admitted to Manslaughter in May.
    In addition to jail time, Bailey was also sentenced to five years of post-release supervision.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Buffalo police say there was a “stranger-danger incident” Tuesday morning at Bailey and Langmeyer avenues.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Hateful graffiti was found spray-painted on a playground at a Buffalo school Monday.
    Symbols that appeared to be a Nazi swastika and a Jewish Star of David were found on a slide at Windermere Boulevard School.
    Amherst Police are investigating the graffiti, and a school janitor was called in to clean it up.
    Last month, a man and three teens were charged with hate crimes for spray painting similar graffiti in several Western New York towns.

    Police say a male walked into Buffalo General Hospital just before 6:15 p.m.

    ALBANY, N.Y. (WIVB) – A new law signed Monday by Gov. Andrew Cuomo increases the minimum penalty against those who make bomb threats against community centers.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Buffalo Police have arrested two people in connection with a fatal beating of a female in the 800 block of Niagara Street near Massachusetts earlier this month.
    The beating occurred Aug. 1. Detectives say that there was a fight involving three people.
    The victim, 39-year-old Jessica Garcia of Buffalo, was taken to ECMC that night. Authorities say she died the next day while at the hospital.
    Arrested were Freddie Cortez, 22, and Michelis Romero, 23, both from Buffalo.

  • Leak fixed, water flowing freely again in the Southtowns

    DERBY, N.Y. (WIVB) – A leaking water line at the Erie County Water Authority’s Sturgeon Point treatment plant has been repaired, allowing the water authority to lift the voluntary restrictions it had imposed on users in the Southtowns since August 6.

    CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB) — There have been several hit-and-runs in WNY this summer, some of which have left their victims seriously hurt, while others have resulted in fatalities. Multiple cases remain unsolved.
