    INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The Indianapolis Colts say linebacker Edwin Jackson was one of two men killed when a suspected drunken driver struck them as they stood outside their car along a highway in Indianapolis.
    The Colts said in a statement Sunday that the team is “heartbroken” by Jackson’s death. The statement says the 26-year-old “was loved by all in the Colts organization.”

  • Multiple DWI arrests made in string of crashes on I-35, Sunday

    AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin police said they made multiple DWI arrests after responding to four crashes on Interstate 35 early Sunday morning.
    APD said the string of crashes happened on a stretch of I-35 northbound from the 600 block to the 2000 block–which is the downtown area.
    Austin Travis County EMS tweeted that they transported five people to local hospitals. One of those people had serious injuries and the other had nonlife-threatening injuries.

    CAYCE, S.C. (AP) — A crash between an Amtrak passenger train and a CSX freight train in South Carolina on Sunday killed two people and injured about 70 others, authorities said.
    The Amtrak train was heading from New York to Miami with about 139 people on board when the crash happened around 2:45 a.m. near Cayce, authorities said.
    The injuries ranged from cuts and scratches to broken bones, Lexington County spokesman Harrison Cahill said.

  • Driver strikes, injures APD officer working crash in Del Valle; flees scene

    DEL VALLE, Texas (KXAN) – A vehicle struck and injured an officer who was working the scene of a crash Saturday night in Del Valle, said the Austin Police Department.

    AUSTIN (KXAN) — Hundreds of student athletes turned out Saturday to get extra piece of mind before they compete.
    The Heart Hospital of Austin offered free heart screenings for those between 14 and 18 years old.
    Each screening has multiple tests, including electro and echo cardiograms, or an ultrasound.
    It was all to detect hypertrophic cardiomyopathy which is the leading cause of sudden cardiac arrest of young athletes.

    DALE, Texas (KXAN) – Criminal Defense Lawyer Richard Banks told KXAN Saturday he is representing a couple accused of shooting a Caldwell County Sheriff’s Deputy Friday morning north of Dale, Texas.
    He said he is representing Edwardo Padilla, 33, and Kimberly Moore, 54, in the case. They plan to plead not guilty because of self-defense in the shooting, Banks said.
