    Construction of a new park near Amazon’s HQ2 as well as improvements to sidewalks and bike lanes in the area could begin soon.
    Arlington Junction Park is projected to be complete at 1051 S. Eads Street in about 18 months, if the Arlington County Board approves a $3.5 million contract on Saturday.     A man with a history of peeping into homes allegedly did it again — twice.
    Police say Herbert Otey, 60, was seen peering into a woman’s home along the 2000 block of Columbia Pike last night. He was arrested and also charged with a peeping incident from earlier in the day.

    Firefighters from Arlington County and surrounding communities are battling a fire in a Crystal City apartment building.
    The fire broke out shortly before 1 p.m. on the 6th floor of the Crystal Flats building at 505 18th Street S. Initial reports suggest that a kitchen appliance somehow caught on fire inside one of the units.
    Arriving firefighters reported thick smoke and the sprinkler system engaged, extinguishing most of the flames. No injuries have been reported.

    The new 28-story apartment building at The Key development in Rosslyn is complete and seeking new tenants.
    Sophie Mao, a spokesperson for the Virginia-based developer Dittmar Company, confirmed that the 514-unit residential building, known as Rosslyn Towers, officially opened this past Saturday, April 27.

    Arlington Public Schools’ Extended Day employee accused of showing porn to children
    An 18-year-old employee of Arlington County Public Schools’ Extended Day program has been arrested and charged with two counts of possession of child pornography, as well as assault and battery, according to the county police department’s special victims unit.
    A criminal investigation was initiated on April 19 for Matthew Pineda, of Fairfax County, Virginia, who was assigned to Abingdon Elementary School, after police received information he had shown pornography to three juveniles.
