• ‘Another very scary moment’: DC-area lawmakers react to another close call at Reagan National Airport

  On Wednesday morning, an American Airlines flight bound for Boston from Reagan National Airport in Arlington had to abort its takeoff to avoid colliding with another plane.
  The Federal Aviation Administration said American Airlines Flight 2134’s takeoff was aborted by air traffic controllers because another aircraft had been cleared to land on an intersecting runway. The FAA is investigating the incident.

  A set of upgrades to an I-395 interchange and trails near Long Bridge Park are officially complete.

  Arlington has failed to collect more than $1 million in security alarm registration fees over the past four years, according to county data.
  The Arlington County Board passed an ordinance in 2020 requiring all alarm owners to pay a $25 annual registration fee for every alarm system. Based on the estimated 13,492 systems in the county at the time, the county was expected to generate an additional $337,000 in revenue every year.

  Arlington County is no longer trying to take a home on Columbia Pike by eminent domain.
  The effort — part of a planned road safety project — sparked a controversy that led to criticism from the family of the elderly, disabled homeowner, as well as from the local NAACP and several candidates for County Board.

  Arlington County is experiencing a rash of liquor store thefts and robberies this year.
  The county is often seeing multiple thefts per day from Virginia ABC stores — and yesterday was no exception.
  Around 4 p.m., police responded to the ABC store at 1001 N. Fillmore Street in Clarendon for a report of someone who stole three bottles of liquor before driving off in a Nissan with D.C. tags. Then another theft was reported from the ABC store at 2955A S. Glebe Road.
