    The preliminary results for Juneau’s 2026 municipal election are in. 
    They show that residents want to implement a new seasonal sales tax in Juneau next year and are split on two other tax-related propositions in the capital city.

    A sixth Juneau man was detained by federal immigration authorities. 
    Mario Alberto Trejo Reynoso, 27, was detained at Lemon Creek on Sept. 4, and moved to Anchorage Correctional Complex on Sept. 30. 
    An Alaska Department of Corrections spokesperson said he left state custody on Oct. 4. Trejo Reynoso is currently at the Northwest ICE Processing Center in Tacoma, Washington, according to

    A second glacial outburst flood in Juneau has crested and the Mendenhall Lake level is starting to come down, according to the National Weather Service in Juneau. 
    Water level in the Lake peaked at 10.18 feet around 5:45 a.m. It’s now dropping rapidly.
    Data from a laser gauge and cameras in Suicide Basin show that the basin has started to drain, says the weather service.
