  A Juneau McMansion’s redesigned entryway was recently celebrated at the 17th Annual Northwest Design Awards in Seattle. Juneau’s Bauer/Clifton Interiors took first place for most innovative design for their work. The entire home’s remodel was inspired by something you might not expect.

• You’re nabbed! French gendarmes find thief stuck in window

  Arrests can’t come any easier than this.
  French gendarmes called to a robbery found the suspected thief stuck in a hole he’d made with a hammer in a shop window.
  The national gendarmerie on Sunday published a photo appearing to show the man half-in and half-out of the hole.

• No opioids, please: Clearing the way to refuse prescriptions

  A growing number of states are working to help patients make it clear to medical professionals they don’t want to be prescribed powerful opioids.

• North Korea tests newly developed high-thrust rocket engine

  North Korea has tested a new type of high-thrust engine to propel its rockets.
  Leader Kim Jong Un attended the test at the Sohae launch site, according to a report by the Korean Central News Agency, which added the test was intended to confirm the engine’s thrust power and gauge the reliability of its control system and structural safety.

  While the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race is over, there’s still “mushing” happening in Alaska. In Anchorage, a unique fundraiser for the Royal Suite Lodge fire victims gave the dogs a break — the reverse sled dog race.

• New Girdwood brewery could boost year-round business for ski town

  Alaska’s newest craft brewery opened its doors Friday. The Girdwood Brewing Company fills a new building off the Alyeska Highway.
  Its taproom is filled with natural light and has an airy feel thanks to high ceilings supported by Sitka spruce beams.

  Two teams have been crowned Alaska School Activites Association (ASAA) March Madness state basketball champions at the 1A level.Led by 1A girls player of the year Kiah Charlie, the Scammon Bay Eagles topped the Selawik Wolves 71 to 35, securing a perfect season and back-to-back state championships.  Charlie led Scammon Bay with a game high 22 points, as well as 6 assists.
  The boys 1A state championship was also successfully defended, as the Ninilchik Wolverines beat the Gambell King Polar B

  Chuck Berry, the rock ‘n’ roll founder who defined its joy and rebellion in “Johnny B. Goode” and other classics, has died in St. Charles County, Missouri, west of St. Louis. He was 90.

  Four pets were treated for smoke inhalation following a residential fire Friday night, according to the Anchorage Fire Department.

  As Cindy Abbott crossed the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race finish line in Nome Saturday, it marked not only the end of her 2017 run, but also this year’s race.
  Wearing bib 31, Abbott pulled into Nome at 2:57 p.m., according to a statement from the Iditarod Trail Committee. Her total race time was 12 days, 2 hours, 57 minutes and 31 seconds. She arrived with 12 dogs in harness, ITC noted.
