• Early morning trailer fire under investigation

  The Anchorage Fire Department is investigating an early morning fire at a home in Mayflower Circle Park on Boniface Parkway.
  The fire was reported at 3:09 a.m. and more than a dozen units responded. The fire was under control at 3:34 a.m., according to fire officials at the scene.
  AFD spokeswoman Jodie Hettrick confirmed no one was injured by the fire.
  She had no information on the damage caused by the fire, or its source, which is still under investigation.

• US approves fix for some Volkswagen diesels

  Volkswagen will soon be able to repair some of its diesel cars so they meet U.S. emissions standards.
  The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the California Air Resources Board said Friday they have approved a fix for around 67,000 of the 475,000 Volkswagens and Audis with 2-liter diesel engines that were programmed to cheat on U.S. emissions tests.
  The German automaker acknowledged the cheating in 2015.

• Coast Guard rescues 4 from fishing boat in rough seas

  The Coast Guard says four people have been safely airlifted from a disabled fishing vessel in heavy seas Friday.
  Petty Officer 1st Class Bill Colclough said the initial call came early Thursday from the fishing vessel, Lady Gudny, asking for more fuel filters.
  A helicopter crew attempted to deliver extra fuel filters but rough seas inhibited the Lady Gudny from retrieving them.

• 3 plead not guilty in Christmas Eve killings

  Suspects in the deaths of two people killed on Christmas Eve have pleaded not guilty.
  KTVA-TV reports three men appeared in court Friday on charges including second-degree murder in the deaths of 32-year-old Danielle Brooks and 38-year-old Christopher Brooks.
  The two were shot and killed at their Anchorage home. Their child was unharmed at the scene and is now with family.
