• 3 Fairbanks medical facilities now under local control

  Three medical providers in Fairbanks have started 2017 under new management.
  The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports that Banner Health is no longer managing the Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, Tanana Valley Clinic and the Denali Center. The three medical providers are all owned by the Greater Fairbanks Community Hospital Foundation, which created Foundation Health Partners to manage the facilities.

• Anchorage hospitals welcome first babies of 2017

  A new year means new life for some Alaska families. The Alaska Native Medical Center welcomed its first baby of the new year at 5:58 a.m. Sunday.
  First time mother Mabel Sours, 18, says she couldn’t wait to meet her daughter. Dad, Kevin Norton, picked out the baby’s name — Emma Leigh Norton. • APD: Vehicle stolen and recovered with child inside, suspect at large

  The person who stole a running car, with a 3-year-old child in a car seat inside of it, is still at large, according to the Anchorage Police Department.
  In a release from APD, the agency wrote that the 2012 silver Nissan Sentra was left running at 5:30 p.m., Sunday, on the 200 block of McCarrey Road. No one, besides the 3-year-old, was in or around the car at the time of the incident.
  The child was discovered unharmed inside of the vehicle behind a Brown Jug liquor store on Bragaw Street.

• Dense fog expected in Anchorage

  The Anchorage Office of Emergency Management is advising residents to beware of dense fog until 12 p.m. Monday.
  In a release from the agency Sunday afternoon, they said dense fog moved into south Anchorage and along the Knik Arm, creating less than a quarter mile of visibility in some places. The fog was expected to move across the Anchorage Bowl by Sunday evening.

• Missing teen found, APD says

  Dorian Currence has been found, according to the Anchorage Police Department, which sent an alert Sunday at 9:11 p.m. canceling the locate notice for the teen.

  The Anchorage Police Department is asking for the public’s help locating 13-year-old Dorian Currence.Currence was last seen at 4:30 p.m. Saturday wearing a black, wool jacket with a grey sweatshirt underneath, grey cargo pants and brown boots, police said. He was also carrying a camouflage backpack with him.
  The teen is described as a white male, with dark brown hair, brown eyes and 5 feet 10 inches tall.
  Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to call APD at 907-786-8900.

  A 21-year-old pedestrian was killed in Fairbanks early New Year’s Day, according to local police.
  In a release from the Fairbanks Police Department, the agency wrote that at 6:55 a.m. they responded to a vehicle collision, with injuries, on Davis Road, between Lathrop and Wilbur Streets.
  The investigation revealed that the driver was headed to work at the time of the collision. The pedestrian, identified by FPD as Michaela Kitelinger, was wearing dark clothing and in the center of the road
