• Poor road conditions cause closures on Minnesota Drive

  The Anchorage Police Department is shutting down parts of Minnesota Drive because of bad road conditions.
  In a brief alert, the agency wrote: “APD shutting down Minnesota (southbound) from International and (northbound) from 100th due to icy road conditions and multiple collisions.” Minutes later APD sent a second alert about another road closure on Minnesota Drive, at Tudor Road.

  Minnesota Road reopened shortly before 4 p.m. Saturday, after the Anchorage Police Department shut down large areas of it for lousy road conditions and multiple vehicle accidents.
  APD said the road has been sanded and all of the vehicles have been removed from the roadway. But just because problems on Minnesota Drive had been cleared up, police were still warning drivers of slick roads across Anchorage.

• Fort Wainwright solider killed in vehicle rollover

  A 19-year-old Fort Wainwright soldier was killed in a single-vehicle rollover in Fairbanks Thursday, according to the Fairbanks Police Department.
  In a release from FPD, the agency wrote that around 7:40 p.m. the Toyota Camry Logan Scott Cote was riding in rolled down an embankment on the north side of the Johansen Expressway, after the driver lost control of the vehicle.

  One person is in critical condition after a shooting in downtown Anchorage early Saturday.

  A dramatic rescue played out on the partially frozen Matanuska River Friday. Emergency crews, quite literally, held on for deer life.
  Eight-month-old Arthur got himself stranded on the icy waterway on Tuesday, after escaping from his pen.

  A fire has burned the main building at the Fairbanks, Alaska, park that hosts the annual world ice art championships.The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports the fire was reported shortly after 7:30 a.m. Friday at the Ice Alaska Ice Park.

  Anchorage police are investigating an early morning shooting that left a man wounded on the city’s east side.Dispatchers just before 2:30 a.m. Friday took multiple calls reporting shots fired on Donna Drive west of Turpin Street. One witness reported a man screaming.

• Troopers: 2 people believed dead in plane crash near Bethel

  Two people were reportedly killed when their single engine airplane crashed on the side of a mountain northeast of Bethel, according to an online dispatch from the Alaska State Troopers.

• Anchorage man sentenced to 22 years for dealing heroin in Mat-su, Fairbanks

  An Anchorage resident arrested in 2014 for operating a large drug ring in the Mat-Su and Fairbanks was sentenced Monday to 22 years in prison, according to a press release from the Alaska State Troopers.
