• APD seeking information on east Anchorage bank robbery suspect

  Law enforcement is asking for the public’s help locating a bank robbery suspect. According to the Anchorage Police Department, a First National Bank in east Anchorage was robbed Monday by a man who fled the scene.Police were notified of the robbery shortly after 12:30. A male walked into the bank, on the 5300 block of E. Northern Lights Boulevard, handed the teller a note and demanded money, police wrote in a release.

  FAIRBANKS — Alaska’s Department of Fish and Game commissioner has rejected calls from petitioners critical of the state’s predator control rules to change the hunting program.

• No injuries after dryer catches on fire in Ketchikan

  An overheated dryer caught fire Sunday afternoon at the Highliner Laundromat on Tongass Avenue north of the mall.
  According to the Ketchikan Fire Department, the call came in a little before 2 p.m. Sunday. When crews arrived, they found that everyone had evacuated the building. Crews also found the first floor full of smoke.
  Fire crews put out the interior fire with a fire extinguisher, then brought the smolderingclothes into the parking lot to douse with a fire hose.

• Petersburg assembly denies waterfront dwelling appeal

  A property owner won’t be able to build additional residential dwelling space into a warehouse on Petersburg’s waterfront.

  ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) – Anchorage police are looking for four robbery suspects who accosted a couple early Monday morning on the west side of the city.

• Skagway Assembly orders recount of senior center bond votes

  The votes on a proposed $6 million bond for a senior center and housing facility in Skagway are so close that there will be a recount.
  On Oct. 4, preliminary municipal election results showed the “no” votes had a six-vote lead over the “yes” votes.

  FAIRBANKS — Authorities are looking for a halfway house resident who escaped from a van that was transporting him back to the Fairbanks Correctional Center.

  TOK, Alaska (AP) – A driver died Sunday morning in a crash on the Alaska Highway.
  Alaska State Troopers and emergency medical personnel from Tok responded to the crash shortly before 10 a.m.
