  The Juneau Police Department has released video shot at 2:30 a.m. Friday that it says may be of the missing man Christopher Orcutt.
  Orcutt, 22, was last seen leaving a party in downtown Juneau on Aug. 25. He was reported missing Aug. 30.

• Arctic sea ice retreats to second lowest extent on record

  Arctic Sea ice retreated to it’s second lowest level on record this summer. Scientists announced today the ice likely reached its lowest extent on Sept. 10. The Arctic Ocean ended the summer season with 1.6 million square miles of ice, tying 2007 for the second lowest amount.

• National Weather Service issues flood advisory for Juneau

  The National Weather Service in Juneau issues a flood advisory for the area around Mendenhall Lake and River in the central channels until 3:45 a.m. Friday.
  Mendenhall Lake and River were at 8.5 feet at 3:39 p.m. Flood stage is 9 feet.
  A water level of 9.4 feet causes minor flooding for yards along View Drive.
  At 9.7 feet, water will flow over West Glacier Spur Road between Skaters Cabin and West Glacier Trailhead.

• Man found dead with ‘significant head injuries’ likely fell to his death, police say

  In Unalaska, police say the man whose body was found in a creek Monday probably fell to his death.
  Gregg Kortesma, 45, was pronounced dead at the scene after a pair of local hikers discovered his body in Ruth Rock Creek at end of Captains Bay, said Michael Holman, Unalaska’s director of Public Safety.

• Yakutat man is one of ‘The Magnificent Seven’

  Martin Sensmeier, a 32-year-old actor from Yakutat, is co-starring in the major motion picture “The Magnificent Seven.”
  In the film, Sensmeier shares the screen with Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke.The movie is a remake of the 1960 western version starring Yul Brynner, and also the 1954 Japanese film “Seven Samurai.”

• City sales tax might not be making it to Bethel

  The City of Bethel has a problem — it doesn’t know how much money it’s making, or not making, in sales tax. The city is also not enforcing violations.
  Bethel City Council and city administration talked about a possible solution to the problem.
  Vice Mayor Byron Maczynski was the first to chime in.
  “Seems like we’re constantly putting out bush fires. I think we need to jump on this one now, to stomp out one that’s already flaming,” Maczynski said.

• Two hikers lost and rescued off West Glacier Trail

  Two out-of-town hikers got lost on West Glacier Trail on Tuesday night, according to Alaska State Troopers.
  In an online dispatch, troopers identified the hikers as Enrico Solano, 41,  of Mexico and Lucas Pezzi, 28, of Argentina. They had hiked to the Mendenhall Glacier and couldn’t find the trail back.
  Capital City Fire/Rescue launched a boat and found them on the lake’s shoreline. SEADOGS also helped with the rescue.

• Ketchikan man charged after accepting mailed drugs

  A 31-year-old Ketchikan man faces multiple felony drug charges for allegedly accepting a mailed package containing illegal prescription medication, and possessing heroin and methamphetamine.
  According to the complaint filed in court, U.S. Postal Inspectors contacted the Ketchikan Police Department on Wednesday about a suspicious package mailed to a Water Street residence, where the defendant’s mother lives.

  The Senate is likely to pass a Water Resources bill this week that would send $100 million to Flint, Michigan, to resolve that community’s drinking water crisis.
