What football coaching shakeups are in USC’s future?
SAN DIEGO — USC’s season-ending loss to Iowa in the Holiday Bowl felt at times like a compilation of the Trojans’ yearlong weaknesses.
The Hawkeyes gashed the USC defense on the edges with regularity, and scored five offensive touchdowns with little-to-no resistance. To add insult to injury, Iowa added a kickoff return TD on its way to its 49-24 victory.
USC fell to 8-5 on the season, the final loss the Trojans’ most lopsided bowl defeat since the 1948 Rose Bowl. But with

KANSAS CITY — It’s time to listen to Philip Rivers. He’s been dropping hints the past month.
Rivers wants to continue playing football. Those were his words, and his words have grown stronger with every retirement question he’s received in recent news conferences.
The Chargers’ 38-year-old quarterback is capable of playing a 17th NFL season physically and emotionally, and he can do it at a high level. Again, his words.

If your 2020 New Year’s resolutions include eating more fresh fruit and vegetables, why not make beautiful bowls of delicious salad for football-watching fuel? For New Year’s Day, I’m suggesting a salad with decadent components: some bacon, some blue cheese and some toasted walnuts.
