Diabetes is a condition where the body is unable to control blood sugar levels. The two most common types of diabetes are Type 1 and Type 2. With Type 1 diabetes, the body does not produce insulin. With Type 2 diabetes, the body makes insulin, but has trouble using it. When blood sugar levels are persistently higher than normal, you may be at risk for chronic complications that can affect your eyes, heart, kidneys and nerves.
