    Harvey Milk Promenade Park, in Long Beach, became the site of a solemn remembrance Wednesday evening, Nov. 20.
    The LGBTQ Center of Long Beach and others in the city gathered at the park for the annual Transgender Day of Remembrance, meant to memorialize victims of anti-transgender violence.
    The first Transgender Day of Remembrance occurred 20 years ago to memorialize Rita Hester, a black transwoman living in Alston, Massachusetts, who was murdered in November 1998. Her case remains unsolved.

    A Santa Ana man has been arrested in the alleged murder of an Army veteran whose body was found in October in the trunk of a deserted Lexus in Anaheim Hills.
    Anaheim police officers arrested Antonio Silva on Monday, Nov. 18 in his home in the 2500 block of North Bristol Street in Santa Ana. Police also arrested Silva for suspicion of kidnapping after finding and rescuing an adult male hostage in the home, a department spokesman Wyatt said Wednesday.

    After several months of investigating, authorities identified and charged two San Bernardino men suspected of an August shooting in which an Anaheim man was killed in a San Bernardino parking lot, authorities said on Wednesday.
    Investigators identified Christopher Jackson and Terrence Kenny as suspects in the killing, said the San Bernardino Police Department in a news release. Both Jackson and Kenny were already in custody for an unrelated case and were charged in the homicide.
