American flag logo on Laguna Beach patrol cars has some concerned about the message being delivered
LAGUNA BEACH — A logo depicting an American flag, that is now adorning the side of Laguna Beach Police Department vehicles, has prompted discussion, and some controversy, nationwide.
The new patriotic logo came as a result of a switch by the city, in February, from all-white patrol cars to the more traditional black-and-whites.

Teachers and school districts won’t be able to blame charter schools much longer
It’s been a rough few months for charter schools and Californians who believe students and parents are better off when they have educational choices —and it could get worse as the state legislature takes up multiple charter school bills.
Earlier this year when the United Teachers of Los Angeles (UTLA) and Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) reached a new labor agreement, it called on the school district’s board members to endorse state legislation that would prevent new

Softball notes: Surprising Marina aiming for Surf League championship
Marina’s softball team can accomplish a feat Tuesday that seemed unlikely before the season.
The Vikings can capture at least a share of the championship in the Surf League — arguably the toughest league in Orange County — with a victory against visiting Huntington Beach.
“We were expected to be cellar-dwellers this year,” Marina co-coach Dan Hay said Monday.
Coming off a 14-14 record last season and with no major recruits on its roster, Marina was ranked 10th in th
