Heisler: How this eagerly-awaited Lakers season turned into such a pileup
One word described the start of the Lakers’ season with the arrival of LeBron James as the first of a new wave of stars in the long-awaited … but still deferred … return to greatness:
    Confusing.
Now, in the stretch run, another word suggests itself:
    Trainwreck.
On one hand, they expected to not only return to the playoffs, but to challenge Golden State, with in-the-loop Kobe Bryant explaining that they brought in all-around, switch-everything defenders like Rajon Rondo and La

    The Imperial Presidency
President Trump’s attempted end-run to fund his “beautiful” wall has been widely, and properly, denounced as a naked power grab by both the left and even some on the right. Yet if Trump’s action is ham-handed and likely dangerous, it also sadly reinforces a long-standing trend that seems to be leading us, inexorably, toward an ever-more imperial presidency.
History is replete with republics that devolved into autocracies. The best-known case remains the shift of the Roman

At the same time, my wife’s family was sending bottles of aspirin to their relatives in the Polish socialist paradise. That dichotomy — Americans receiving cutting-edge medical care even as Eastern Europeans were lacking the rudimentary medicines — always stuck in my mind as I’

Most of the attention seems to be focused on the French Quarter with its endless parades and rowdy tourists. Simply, it revolves around three reasons: the demographics of our industry, techno providers selling individual vs. enterprise solutions, and the biggie — our available inventory is not shared with a Realty board, which means the consumer cannot widely view what’s for sale online.
