    Newspaper publisher Tronc has named CEO Justin Dearborn as its chairman of the board, replacing Michael Ferro, who is retiring.
    The change announced Monday shortly before Fortune magazine published a story about two women who allege that Ferro made unwanted sexual advances during 2013 and 2016 before he become Tronc’s chairman.

    COSTA MESA — A raccoon was the cause of nearly 8,000 customers losing power in Costa Mesa, Irvine and Santa Ana after it got caught in electrical equipment at a substation Saturday night, March 17.
    About 10 p.m., Southern California Edison began receiving reports of a power outage, said Jim Hanggi, spokesman for SCE.

  • Man’s body discovered at house fire in Wilmington

    WILMINGTON – A man was found dead Sunday, March 18 after firefighters put out a house fire.
    Firefighters were dispatched about 5:16 a.m. to a single-family home in the 1000 block of Robidoux Street, said Amy Bastman of the Los Angeles Fire Department in an alert. The man’s body was found inside.
    No other information about the man was immediately available. The cause of death is under investigation.
    Thirty-eight firefighters extinguished the flames in about 40 minutes, Bastman said.

    A man who was killed early Saturday, March 17, when his car veered off the roadway and struck a tree has been identified.
    The driver was Giovanni Arreguin of Santa Ana, according to the Orange County Coroner’s office.
    He was 18 years old.
