San Clemente looks to ‘Paul Walker’ statue to keep sharks at bay
Was this year’s influx of great white sharks off San Clemente caused by the City Council’s refusal to erect a bigger-than-life statue of the late actor Paul Walker on the pier?
Councilman Tim Brown can’t say for sure. But he is suspicious.
As a result of those suspicions, you can visit San Clemente City Hall this summer and, on display, will be the next-best thing: A 1-foot-tall statue of the actor who died in a 2013 car crash, famous for his “Fast and the Furious”

San Clemente to build safety wall along Camino del Rio after residents complain of ‘speedway’
SAN CLEMENTE Life has changed for residents of Camino del Rio since January, when their formerly dead-end street was connected to Avenida La Pata.
Residents say it isn’t just more traffic going to or coming from La Pata, a thoroughfare that links San Clemente with San Juan Capistrano. For some motorists, they say, Del Rio has become a speedway, generating noise and fears that a car may lose control and crash into back yards of nine homes not buffered by a solid block wall.
