  SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — A Roswell tax preparer has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for fraudulently preparing tax returns over a three-year period.
  Prosecutors say 46-year-old Sylvia Franco received a suspended 18-year prison sentence with the stipulation that she pay more than $38,000 in restitution to her victims.
  She also was ordered to serve five years of supervised probation and not to prepare income tax returns anymore.

  It will be the company’s first location in New Mexico and like the others, it will be huge.
  The 70,000 square foot store will be located near I-25 and Paseo Del Norte.

  OTERO COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – Homes are burning in Timberon as firefighters try to get a handle on the blaze about 15 miles south of Cloudcroft in Otero County.
  Dozens of evacuees have come to Cloudcroft High School to wait out the fire and keep up to date on what’s going on.
  The fire broke out in the Village of Timberon Wednesday around 3:30 p.m.
  Timberon is home to about 300 people. So far, the fire has burned up about 290 acres of private land.
