    USA Swimming Announces Dates For 2028 Olympic Trials; One Week Earlier

    The 2028 U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials will run from June 9-17 which is almost a week earlier than the 2024 Olympic Trials.
    On Tuesday morning, USA Swimming announced the dates for the 2028 Olympic Trials at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The meet will keep the nine-day format introduced back in 2024, but it will run from Friday-Saturday rather than the former Saturday-Sunday schedule.

    One of the best male swimmers in Sweden’s history, Erik Persson, announced that he is calling it a career.
    Persson, who had reportedly taken a break from competing to coach, told Swedish newspaper Norra Holland that he is indeed done with his swimming career.
    The 32-year-old was named Sweden’s Swimmer of the Year six times and holds Swedish records in the 100 (1:00.08) and 200 breast (2:07.66).

    University of North Carolina swimming & diving head coach Mark Gangloff has received a significant raise as part of his new three year contract.
    The new contract was announced and took effect on July 1, though the university only recently released details of the new agreement. The new contract replaces his previous five year deal that paid him a base salary of $180,000 for the 2021-2022 season and escalated to $220,000 for the 2025-2026 season.
