West Midlands Police has been fined £50,000 at Birmingham Crown Court today (26 January) after charges were brought against the force for breaching health and safety legislation.The action by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) followed an incident in July 2014, when a firearms officer suffered a severed finger while using machinery at the force’s armoury. -

Police are investigating calls made to six schools in the West Midlands this morning (Jan 26) making bomb threats – but intelligence experts insist there is no credible threat.Calls were made in quick succession at around 9am to four schools in Sandwell, one in Dudley and one in south Birmingham. -
