A trio of machete wielding robbers, who repeatedly stabbed a Birmingham postmaster in the leg as they tried to steal his takings, have been jailed for over 17 years. Tayyab Ayaz, 20, Ilyas Khan, 18, and 17-year-old Umar Mahmood (pictured left to right) were sentenced Friday (10 July) after previously admitting carrying out the armed robbery on 27 May. -
Coventry police arrest three on suspicion of violent crime
Police investigating a string of violent crimes in Coventry - including robbery, carjacking and burglary - have today (Monday 13 July) arrested three men in a series of raids.
The men, aged 26 and 18, from Coventry and a 28-year-old man from Bedworth, were arrested by officers from Coventry and Force CID at their addresses on suspicion of conspiracy to rob in connection with a number of crimes across the city and surrounding areas.

A man posing as a Sikh children’s charity worker and ‘guru’ threatened to kill a woman’s two daughters before taking her treasured jewels as a ‘donation’.The 42-year-old woman was first approached by the man at her home on Stonor Road in the Hall Green area of Birmingham in April.
