• Walsall clubbers captured on camera after serious assault

  Images have been released of four men suspected of attacking a Walsall clubber, who was left with a partially severed lip after a dancefloor argument. The 27-year-old had been out with his friends at the Vogue Club when he got involved in a spat with a group of six or seven men, at around 4am on Saturday 14 March. The argument escalated to a fight before the victim and the group of men were all asked to leave.

  Police in Coventry have released images of distinctive jewellery that they believe to have been stolen, in an effort to trace the owners.The jewellery, which includes a cameo pendant, a pocket watch, a gold cross and chain, a St Christopher pendant and a number of rings, was recovered by officers during the search of a house.

  Parents are being urged to check their children’s car and booster seats are fitted properly after the climax of a road safety operation found 90 per cent were fitted incorrectly. The warning comes following checks by officers at Frankley Services on the M5 at the end of UN Road Safety Week found only three out of the 30 child restraints examined were being used correctly.

• Man jailed for life after woman found murdered in bin

  A man has today, (Tuesday 19 May), been jailed for killing a woman and dumping her body in a wheelie bin in a bid to cover his tracks. Matthew Cherrington, aged 32 of no fixed address, beat diminutive Lidia Pascale to death and then discarded her lifeless 4ft 11ins body in a wheelie bin just one street away from his home. He then sold her phone in a West Bromwich shop before buying a pot of paint with the cash to cover up blood splatters in his flat after efforts to clean up failed.

• Man contacts police following CCTV appeal by officers investigating attack

  Police in Wolverhampton investigating the assault on Watford fan Nic Cruwys, have received a call from a man who has identified himself as the person in the latest  CCTV image released by officers yesterday. A 20-year-old man called police to say the picture shown was of him and he will be spoken to later by officers investigating the assault.
