A man has been arrested following an early hours pursuit across Birmingham this morning when he tried to out-run traffic cops...in a milk van!
Police were alerted at 3.35am to reports of the open-sided delivery van being stolen from outside an address in Hill Street near Birmingham’s New Street station.
Patrol cars spotted the transit van – which was laden with milk and bread – at Camp Hill Circus where it failed to stop for officers and was driven the wrong way along the A45. -

A 33-year-old man from Lichfield has been charged after a hit and run collision in Birmingham, which left a pedestrian with a broken leg.
James Whiteley, from Swinfen, has been charged with failing to stop after a collision, failing to report an accident he was involved in and driving without due care and attention and bailed to appear before Birmingham Magistrates’ Court on 1 April. -
Chelmsley Wood sneak-in burglar jailed
A repeat burglar who broke into a house in Chelmsley Wood in order to fund his drug habit has today (23 March) been jailed for 2 years 10 months.
Peter Goodman, aged 37, and of Waterson Croft, slipped into the Dunster Road home overnight via an unlocked patio door on 21 March, while the householders were asleep upstairs.
He stole a handbag and Samsung tablet from the kitchen before sneaking out and back up the road to his home address.
Goodman was caught by officers after they examined CCTV -
CCTV clues to robbery on Hurst Street
Police have released CCTV of two men wanted in connection with an assault and robbery in Birmingham city centre in January.
One of the men grabbed a gold chain from the neck of a 26-year-old man on Hurst Street in the early hours of Sunday 25 January and when he resisted the offender and an accomplice assaulted him and his friend, also aged 26. -
CCTV appeal nets eight in Aston Villa and West Brom disorder investigation
Detectives investigating disorder and pitch invasions at the FA Cup clash between Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion on 7 March have quizzed a number of men about the clashes.
A total of six men voluntarily attended police stations across the West Midlands over the weekend for questioning following a CCTV appeal to trace 11 suspected of being involved: -
Car in collision driving wrong way down Aston Expressway
earlier this afternoon.
Officers were called just after 12.30pm today (23 March) following reports of the collision.
The ambulance service was called and a 43-year-old driver was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries. The drivers of the other two cars were treated for minor injuries. -
Appeal for witnesses following fatal collision on the Aston Expressway
Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses this morning after a fatal collision on the Aston Expressway yesterday afternoon.
The collision took place just after 12.30pm.
Officers were called after reports a car, a silver Rover MG, was seen driving the wrong way on the Expressway. The car was then in collision with two other vehicles.
