    A woman who helped hide criminal cash accrued by her daughter’s corrupt boyfriend has been ordered to pay £46,000 back into the public purse…10 years after being convicted for money laundering.

    Sharon Millard was jailed for six months in 2005 after a West Midlands Police investigation showed she’d processed £97,537 in ‘dirty money’ through her bank accounts. 
  • Teenager charged over Erdington bus fire

    A Birmingham teenager has been charged with arson in connection with a fire that gutted the top deck of a bus in the city earlier this week.

    The 15-year-old, from Erdington, was arrested on Thursday night (19 March) after attending a police station following appeals on social media to identify the suspect.

  • Fine-dodging taxi driver jailed

    A taxi driver has been jailed for six months after twice trying to dodge fines and penalty points for speeding in Birmingham.

    Mohammed Qayum, a Hackney Carriage driver licensed in Birmingham, was clocked on the M42 doing 60mph in a 50mph zone in March 2012. His Peugeot taxi activated a temporary speed camera between junctions six and seven on the northbound carriageway and a prosecution form was sent to his Aston home.

  • Fifth man charged with Coventry nightclub murder

    A Birmingham man was last night (Saturday 21 March) charged with the murder of Coventry clubber Daniel Kirkwood.

    Unemployed Ezra Scott, of Hawksyard Road in Erdington, will appear before Coventry Magistrates Court on Monday accused of murder and three counts of wounding.
  • CCTV released after Walsall shopkeeper burgled

    CCTV images of a group of men have been released after a Walsall newsagent was burgled.

    It is believed that the group distracted the shopkeeper at L S Bains in Lord Street while others sneaked into the living quarters and stole cash.
