  • Suspected thief arrested thanks to flower power

    A suspected thief is in custody this afternoon (Sunday 1 March) after raising the suspicions of a passing police community support officer (PCSO) by running from a top city gallery with a flowery mobile phone!

    The 34-year-old man from the city centre was spotted by the West Midlands PCSO leaving the University of Birmingham’s Barber Institute of Fine Arts with an expensive iPhone 6 in a flowery case.

    A man is to appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court tomorrow (Monday 2 March) accused of criminal damage and affray.

    Unemployed Brian Hope, 41, of Milton Street in the Newtown area of Birmingham was arrested on Friday morning (27 February) following a disturbance at a flat on Milton Street in the early hours.

    Detectives investigating how a woman fell from the balcony of a tower block in Walsall on Friday (27 February) have charged a man.

    Unemployed Michael Riggon, 52, of West Bromwich Street, Caldmore, Walsall will appear before Walsall and Aldridge Magistrates Court on Monday (2 February) accused of attempted murder.
