  • Second woman arrested in nightclub assault

    A second woman has been arrested in connection with a nightclub assault in Sutton Coldfield in December just two days after police released CCTV images.

    A 21-year-old woman from Castle Vale was arrested on 18 February on suspicion of assault; she was bailed until a date in March pending further enquiries.

  • New patron for the force’s police museum

    Plans to revitalise and raise the profile of the West Midlands Police Museum, are one step closer, following the announcement of a famous new figurehead.

    Local historian, author and presenter Professor Carl Chinn aims to keep the history of policing in the West Midlands alive, by helping to take it into the 21st century, when he becomes the force museum’s new patron.

    Dudley Police are pleased to report that missing woman Claire Brown has been found safe and well.

    Claire − aged 61 − was last seen at her home address in Portland Drive at around 3.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 25 February).
  • Men jailed to a total of 43 years behind bars for Ladywood gun plot

    A quick response by officers – which saw armed criminals arrested within minutes and a loaded gun taken off Birmingham’s streets – has resulted in three men being jailed for a total of 43 years. 

    Jamie Webster, Arron Burris-Hale and Sarbjit Bhamra were sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court today (26 February) after being found guilty of plotting to possess a firearm and ammunition with intent to endanger life.

    Police are investigating after a man was left lying unconscious in a West Bromwich street this morning (Thursday).

    The 51-year-old local man was in Bridge Street, West Bromwich when he was assaulted by two men at 5.10am.

  • Heartless thief swipes pensioner’s savings - do you recognise him?

    A cruel conman is caught on CCTV discussing building work with an elderly Birmingham woman shortly before stealing £1,300 of her savings - and police believe he could have stolen £15,000 from other pensioners he’s duped.

    Detectives have released images of the man at an address in Bowstoke Road, Hamstead, where he claimed £300 for fictitious work and then pocketed an envelope containing another £1,000 whilst the 79-year-old woman’s back was turned.
     
  • CCTV released after armed robbery in Birmingham convenience store

    Police have released footage of two men stealing a crate of beer at gunpoint from a convenience store in a bid to trace them.

    The masked men threatened a shopkeeper in Vardon Supermarket on Vardon Way, Kings Norton with what appeared to be a handgun and demanded money, but the shopkeeper immediately activated his alarm and grabbed a baseball bat to fend off his attackers leaving them to make off with nothing more than the beer and a mobile phone.
