  A West Midlands Police special constable, who worked for the force for 28 years, has been given a four month prison sentence suspended for 12 months at Birmingham Crown Court, after he admitted fraudulently claiming travel expenses while working for the force.
  
  Mahesh Randeria , aged 51, who was based at Birmingham Central Police Station, had pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to claiming over £1,300 extra for petrol expenses than he was entitled to between October 2010-November 2013.

• Saloon car sought after Smethwick hit and run

  Traffic police are searching for a dark coloured car which struck a motorcyclist and then drove off in Smethwick at the weekend.
  
  Emergency crews were called to the junction of Astbury Avenue and Mill Hill at around 1.20pm on Sunday 15 February following the collision, which left the motorcyclist with head injuries.

• Men jailed over Darlaston shop robberies

  Matthew Thomas, from Welford Road, Sutton Coldfield, pleaded guilty to the offences at Birmingham Crown Court where he admitted befriending and grooming a 16-year-old boy at the Birmingham care home in which he worked until his dismissal in 2013.
