  • Walsall man jailed for 16 years after setting blaze in attempt to kill ex-lover

    A spurned lover is facing 16 years behind bars after setting light to his ex-partner’s Walsall home. 

    Gary Griffiths from Proffitt Close, Brownhills was found guilty of attempted murder after a three day trial in November last year after he set light to the front door of a property in Bloxwich Road, Walsall. 
  • Trio charged with plotting shop raids

    Three men have appeared in court, accused of committing a series of shop raids across Coventry and Warwickshire.

    West Midlands Police officers arrested the trio last month and all three appeared before Coventry Magistrates Court on Boxing Day, charged with conspiracy to rob and possession of an imitation firearm.

  • Police charge two in connection with baby death

    Police investigating the death of a one year-old baby in Birmingham have charged his sister and her partner with murder. 

    Santino Balaz, aged 14 months, a Czech national, who was living in Brighton Road, Balsall Heath, died at Birmingham Children’s Hospital on January 1 2015, following an emergency call to the ambulance service at 3.45pm.
  • "Lottery win" - fraudsters dupe man into handing over £10k

    Birmingham Police have released CCTV of a man suspected of duping a vulnerable man into handing over £10,000. 

    The 59-year-old, who suffers from dementia, was walking through the Jewellery Quarter on 24 October when he was approached by an Asian woman who claimed she had won the lottery but was unable to claim the prize as she was an illegal immigrant.
