    2014 saw West Midlands Police mark its 40th anniversary – and it proved to be a landmark year on more than one front.

    Police ranks were bolstered for the first time in five years as a recruitment freeze imposed to help meet budget cuts was lifted, whilst a partnership with IT provider Accenture was announced in a bid to modernise the force.
  • Pair wanted in connection with series of gym thefts across region

    Images have been released in a bid to trace two men suspected of committing a series of thefts from lockers at Pure Gyms across the West Midlands.

    Police investigating a total of 30 crimes at branches of the gym chain believe the two men may be responsible for the thefts over a six week period throughout November and December.
  • Man charged with Bilston stabbing

    A man has been charged after a shopkeeper was stabbed in Bilston earlier in the week.

    Officers were called to Atwal Wines on Bilston Road shortly before 9.40pm on Sunday 21 December following reports of a stabbing.
  • Dog walkers hold key to finding Weoley Castle robbers

    Dog walkers could hold the key to identifying masked men who attacked and robbed a woman in her Birmingham flat.

    Police investigating the raid, on 2 December, believe that people walking their dogs along Middle Acre Road in Weoley Castle are likely to have seen the offenders fleeing the scene of the crime, at around 6.30pm.
